Donald E.   Almoney

DONALD E. ALMONEY, age 78 years, died on Thursday, July 29, 2010 in his home in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Letha Opal (Owens) with whom he had shared 15 years of marriage.

Born on March 14, 1932 in the Stansbury Mansion at Eden Mill in Pylesville, Maryland, he was the only child of John Otho and Idella Marie (Heaps) Almoney. Mr. Almoney was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for 20 years at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford County, Maryland. He was a member and former deacon at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Dublin, Maryland where he painted the church and the busses for the adjoining Christian school.

Mr. Almoney enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and the companionship of his dogs, Muggs and Bo.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
Three children-
Donald Ray Almoney of Whiteford, Maryland
Lynn M. Gleason of Tallahassee, Florida
Cynthia L. Almoney of York, Pennsylvania

Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Reverend Dr. John E. McKnight of the Evangelical Methodist Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery, Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania with military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York County Veterans Honor Guard,
